On 4/27: Lightning strikes with the TOWER.
Of all the cards in the traditional deck, TOWER may be the most likely to induce panic, and yet it does not arrive as a predictor of crisis. Rather, TOWER suggests an opportunity for deep, lasting change. It reminds us to stay flexible, resist rigidity, while simultaneously giving us permission to feel all the emotions that come with being temporarily unmoored.
Have you felt the rumblings of a seismic shift in your life? Have you felt collective fault lines cracking beneath your feet? TOWER reminds us that these moments are part of a healthy cycle of birth, growth, death and rebirth.
Later this month, we move into TAURUS season, a moment that energetically aligns with the wish for security, resourcing, and the accumulation of material safety. TOWER invites us to reflect on the strength of our foundations--the values on which we build. Some structures need to burn away before soul-aligned Tauresian expansion can begin.
Come to the circle to reflect on the TOWER and its invitations into healing and release!
What you can expect from Tarot Circle:
To practice reading Tarot in a supportive, therapeutic container.
You can come as a total beginner or a seasoned tarot reader. All levels will benefit from the collective energy of reading within a safe, compassionate space that honors all responses and relationships to the cards.
To strengthen your intuition.
No matter where you fall on the spectrum of skeptic to total believer, you have the capacity to work with the Tarot as a tool for self-reflection and personal growth. You do not have to be psychic for the cards to speak to you—although you may find that they open avenues of guidance that you weren’t aware you possessed. The process we follow for reading the cards is gentle and supportive, rather than jarring or overwhelming. You can expect to strengthen your natural intuitive gifts in a way that uplifts and empowers you to make choices that align with your inner guidance and wisest Self.
To activate the collective unconscious to uncover personal guidance from your deck.
The advantages of practicing tarot in a group are manifold. We raise the energy of the readings with our collective attention—a bit like how the feel of a meditation or yoga practice can shift in a room of devoted attendees. There is a collective consciousness that activates when we read cards together—bringing greater clarity to personal readings and making messages and insights easier to integrate after the session has ended.
To mark seasonal shifts with intention through soul-supporting ritual.
Each month we bring focused attention to a single Tarot archetype that corresponds with the current astrological season. This practice fosters spiritual alignment with the earth, planets, and seasonal changes that affect the human and more-than-human realms equally. The result is a grounded, earth-centered practice that situates our individual challenges and triumphs within the collective and the cosmos alike.
To connect with a community of magic-makers.
Make friends! Find coven-mates! Connect with folks who are interested in living deeply intentional, soul-centered lives.
What does this look like in action?
At each session we will share collective reflections on the imagery in the card, draw personal cards to receive insight from our decks, and share our readings in a spirit of mutual support and affirmation.
We will aim to have our discussion and circle wrapped up by about 8:30, leaving time afterward for less structured conversation and perusing the shop at the Healing Temple if you like.
Please bring a deck (I will have some to borrow if you don’t have your own) and something to write with/on.
We typically sit on the floor in the meditation room at the Healing Center, so if you need anything to make that more comfortable for you please bring that as well. We do have mats, blankets, and also folding chairs if floor-sitting is not a good option for you.
About your session leader:
My approach to reading Tarot is both intuitive and academic. As a Super-Nerd (aka Ph.D. recipient) in the fields of comparative literature and visual culture, I come to the cards with a heightened interest in the Tarot’s esoteric symbolism and historically accumulative meanings. At the same time, I trust my intuition (honed over years of practice) to guide me to the salient messages and invitations that each card offers in the present. I personally do not use Tarot to foretell future events. Instead I look to the cards to gain clarity around what is already here calling for my attention and care.
