Welcome to Arcana Craft!
I’m so grateful for the cosmic forces that brought you here. If you are a creator or seeker, a craftsperson or tinkerer, a dreamer or a believer—you’ve come to the right place.
Out of the Mystery—
Almost two years ago an astrologer told me that I would be stepping into a teaching role and that through it I would open up space for collective healing in my community.
At the time I didn’t give it much thought. I once taught courses in film analysis, literature and German as a graduate student, but that life seemed far behind me. I left academia after finishing my dissertation and had since been living a fairly solitary life as a stay-at-home parent and aspiring writer.
Where was this community that the astrologer spoke of?
It was hard for me to imagine it.
But—sure enough—a few months later I was asked to host a monthly Tarot Circle at my local Unitarian Universalist Church.
I’d been working with tarot for several years as a creative and devotional tool, but leading this circle brought my practice to a whole new level of integration. The members of the circle, though beginning practitioners, withdrew the most beautiful and insightful readings of their cards. Hosting them every month, I feel that I am witnessing creative, intuitive, and collective evolution in action.
—MAGIC.
I soon felt that our conversations engendered more thoughts and mystical musings than could be contained in our meeting hours.
And so Arcana Craft was born.
I started this newsletter to provide a resource to the members of my circle and to expand our conversations out into a wider community. I’m specifically interested in exploring creative practice as a form of intuitive action—much like reading tarot—and I offer interviews with artists of all shapes and stripes to complement our monthly deep dives on card energies and archetypes.
